Odell Beckham earned a fake engagement on Sunday because of his 222-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Baltimore Ravens jerseys. On Wednesday, he earned something a little more tangible for his efforts.
The New York Giants star receiver picked up NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his eight-catch demolition of the Ravens’ secondary. He scored a 75-yard touchdown early in the second half, and on fourth-and-1 with less than two minutes remaining in the tilt, Beckham took a slant pass 66 yards for the winning score. Afterward, he proposed to the kicking net he’s had infamous run-ins with over the last month.

On the AFC side of things, Jay Ajayi’s surprise day against the Pittsburgh Steelers earned him AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The Miami Dolphins’ second-year back finally had his breakout game, picking up a whopping 204 yards and two scores on 25 carries. He added three yards on one catch in the 30-15 victory as well.
Taking home the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award was Dallas Cowboys jerseys’ defensive lineman David Irving. A relatively unknown name before Sunday, Irving was a huge reason why the Cowboys kept the gas pedal down on the Green Bay Packers. His three forced fumbles, including one he stripped and recovered on Aaron Rodgers late in the third quarter at the goal line, were a career high. He added four tackles and a sack on the afternoon, helping lift the Cowboys to a 30-16 win.
Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower jersey scored AFC Player of the Week honors for his 13-tackle day against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was a safety, though, that really earned him the award and cheap jerseys this week. With the Pats down 14-10 in the third quarter, Hightower’s sack of Andy Dalton in the end zone kickstarted New England, which went on to win the game 35-17. It was Hightower’s second safety of the season.

A punter and kicker took home the special teams awards. New Orleans Saints kicker Wil Lutz landed NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after he kicked five extra points and two field goals, including the winning 52-yarder with no time left on the clock to extinguish the Panthers, 41-38. San Diego Chargers punter Drew Kaser, meanwhile, bounced back from bobbling a potentially game-tying field goal snap against the Raiders to take home AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors against the Broncos. The punter had five punts for an average of 44.0 yards on Thursday night, pinning four inside the 20-yard line. His field-position turning kicks helped lead the Chargers to a 21-13 win over the Broncos.
Santonio Holmes is back on the football radar.
The Super Bowl XLIII hero is one of three free-agent wide receivers working out for the Cincinnati Bengals jerseys on Thursday, reports NFL Media’s Rand Getlin.
Joining Holmes are David Nelson and Greg Little, the latter having caught six passes in six games with the Bengals last season.
Cincinnati is in the market for depth at the position after placing 2014 seventh-round pick James Wright on injured reserve this week.
Still just 31 years old, Holmes has become an NFL afterthought following a Lisfranc injury and character concerns that forced an end to his ill-fated Jets career in 2013.

After waiting until mid-August to land a job with the Bears last summer, Holmes managed just eight catches for 67 yards in nine games.
Nelson, 28, caught eight passes for 65 yards in six games with the Jets last season.
He recently denounced NFL teams for snubbing him due to the time he spends on charity work.
“They don’t think my head’s in the game, but it’s all guesswork,” Nelson wrote. “Perception isn’t always reality, and that’s the case here. These coaches and owners don’t know me, and they don’t have any interest in changing that.”
No matter which receiver the Bengals add, expectations should be low.
A.J. Green, Marvin Jones jersey and Mohamed Sanu are locked in as the top three receivers, with tight end Tyler Eifert and receiving back Giovani Bernard also high in the passing-game pecking order.
Terrelle Pryor is back on field.
The Bengals announced Friday that the former Raiders quarterback and Ohio State star was one of eight tryout players invited to Cincinnati’s weekend minicamp.
Pryor was released by the Chiefs on Tuesday less than four months after signing with Kansas City. In 16 previous appearances with the Raiders, Pryor connected on just 56.3 percent of his throws to go with nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions. After flaming out in Oakland, Pryor also downed a cup of coffee with the Seahawks.
The Bengals are wise to search for help under center. Behind the ineffectual Andy Dalton, the team houses just AJ McCarron and Josh Johnson.
We’d love to see Cincy try the 6-foot-4, 233-pound Pryor at a different position, namely tight end, but the passer said Friday, per ESPN’s Coley Harvey: “If I can’t play quarterback, I can’t play football.”
Pryor arrives with as much freaky athletic talent as any signal-caller on the roster, but his arm is suspicious. It’s not surprising to see him get a tryout, but he’s a stretch to latch on with the Bengals beyond training camp.
